Carroll Rod and Gun Club is a long-standing, member-driven organization serving sportsmen and women in the Frewsburg area and surrounding Southern Tier region for more than 100 years. Built on tradition, safety, and community, the club offers a welcoming home for hunters, target shooters, and outdoor enthusiasts looking for more than just a place to shoot.
Members enjoy access to multiple well-maintained shooting facilities, including rifle, pistol, and archery ranges. These ranges support everything from preseason sight-in and skill practice to regular recreational shooting in a safe, structured environment. Whether you are an experienced hunter or new to the shooting sports, the club provides a reliable place to train, learn, and improve.
Beyond the ranges, Carroll Rod and Gun Club offers a clubhouse with a members-only cocktail lounge, creating a space for members to gather, unwind, and connect. The club hosts regular member events and meetings throughout the year, helping foster a strong sense of community. Permit classes and educational opportunities are offered to support responsible firearm ownership, and Wi-Fi is available in the clubhouse for added convenience.

Each year, Carroll Rod and Gun Club awards scholarships to local graduating students and has recently launched a DEC camp scholarship for junior members. The Archery Range at the Carroll Rod and Gun Club is an open-air range designed for bow practice in a controlled outdoor setting. Conveniently located just off the main parking lot, this range is easily accessible for both casual practice and structured training.
A key feature of the range is its elevated shooting tower, which allows archers to practice shots from varying heights and elevations. This setup is ideal for refining form, distance judgment, and real-world shooting scenarios.
The range follows the same safety expectations as all club ranges. Shooters are required to follow posted rules, maintain clear firing lanes, and leave the area clean after use.
Restroom access is available in the clubhouse during normal clubhouse hours. This range is exposed and does not provide overhead cover.
The Archery Range offers a convenient and practical space for members looking to develop their archery skills in a well-maintained club environment.

The Lower Range at the Carroll Rod and Gun Club is located just behind the clubhouse and utilizes the club’s events pavilion for covered shooting. This range is designed for convenient access and is commonly used for handgun practice and pistol permit classes.
The Lower Range supports all handguns and pistols, as well as small-caliber rifles, with shooting distances up to 50 yards. It features a single firing line and follows the same safety standards and range rules as all club ranges.
The range is ADA friendly, though it may not be fully ADA compliant. Clubhouse Wi-Fi reaches this range, making it a practical location for those who don't want to unplug fully.
Shooters are expected to follow all posted rules, practice safe firearms handling, and pick up trash and unfired shells before leaving the firing line to help keep the range clean and safe for all members.

The Upper Range at the Carroll Rod and Gun Club is a secluded outdoor shooting range located on a wooded hillside, offering a quiet and controlled environment for safe firearms practice. The range features a single firing line and supports rifles and handguns, with shooting distances available up to 300 yards.
The Upper Range is open daily from sunup to sundown, unless otherwise posted. Shooters must check the open/closed sign at the base of the range before proceeding. A closed sign indicates active mowing, maintenance, or a scheduled shoot and means the range is temporarily unavailable.
All shooters are expected to follow posted range rules and standard safety practices. Unfired shells must be picked up before leaving the firing line to help maintain a clean and safe range for all members.
This range is well suited for members seeking a quieter shooting area for sight-in, practice, and longer-distance rifle work in a controlled outdoor setting.
